A Clear Explanation
Only the physical things are visible to the ordinary eyes. You’re your spiritual eye is able to see both visible and invisible things of life. Besides, the spiritual eye can see through solids. Tour spirit is able to know about the events of the past, about present things or about future happenings, covering both very near and far away places.
The range of visible to invisible things include the following: solid, liquid, gas (air), fire, light, visible spirit and invisible spirit. As we grow in spirit, our interest in these things shifts from the more solid things to the more subtle things of life. The subtle things are highly spiritual - seemingly imperceptible - aspects of life. For example, while a worldly man would rejoice only when he has bought something new, the spiritual man rejoices always even when he has nothing.
In other words, there is more to the manifest life than what the ordinary eye sees. It is only the wise ones that would ensure a steady rise in their spiritual life. The foolish ones remain stagnant (stand still), because they follow the wrong path.
The wide range of things can be categorized into three broad groups: matter, zeal and spirit. Matter is characterized by inertia, sluggishness and ignorance. That is why worldly people find it hard to appreciate and practice spirituality.
The zeal entity provides the passion and action for fulfillment.
True spirit is characterized by purity and knowledge. That is why Jesus said, “You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.”
The fact is that those who choose the worldly life, become bound to it. As such they reincarnate, because wherever a person’s treasure is, there the heart is, and where a person’s heart is, there he is present. On the other hand, those who prefer the spiritual life become sustained by it to rise higher and higher to the brighter regions of life, called heaven. In-between spirit and matter, is a force, momentum, pushing people in the direction of their choice.
A good passion is called devotion or interest, because the Saints perform all actions without expecting rewards. A bad passion becomes evil, called addiction, attachment or possessiveness, because worldly people have desires to fulfill. They become greatly disappointed when they fail to achieve the desires.
The world of matter is characterized by negative principles like reluctance, laziness, complacence, greed and attachment. A wise man would do everything possible to set himself free from the world of matter, which is only an illusion. That is why King Solomon described the pleasures of this world as “Vanity upon vanity, all is vanity.”
But, the spiritual dimension is characterized by positive principles like joy, delight, wisdom, happiness, contentment, patience, freedom, etc. in this dimensions, are the true treasures and pleasures of life, which are both lasting and abundant. A wise man would use his earthly wealth, which is perishable, to acquire heavenly treasures, which are everlasting.
Out of disappointment, the Lord Almighty is asking, “Why do people make this world a place of residence?” And I ask, “Why do people blind themselves with the things and of this world?”
